Rebecca Blankenship

CBT Therapist, EMDR Therapist

Hi I’m Rebecca Blankenship! I’m a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, and you might also call me a supportive listener and skills teacher.

I support those facing difficult times in learning how to care for themselves so that they can reach their goals. My clients appreciate my calm demeanor even while discussing stressful topics. I help my clients lean on their strengths. I will be very interested in getting to know you, what you are good at, and what you enjoy.

I like helping people who are striving for more balance in their lives. I am particularly passionate about working with young adults as they face life transitions, navigate relationships, and seek their purpose. I also work with individuals and groups with challenges of anxiety, depression, and emotion regulation.

Theoretical Orientation:

As a clinician, I am person-centered focusing on the client’s skills and needs. I believe that clients have it within themselves to work through their own problems and decrease symptomology. I tend to provide open ended questions and reflections to serve as a mirror for clients and assist in sorting through their thoughts and feelings. I am strengths based and often ask clients about their current strengths and skills and then assist in using these to work toward treatment goals.

I include Cognitive Behavioral TherapyDialectical Behavioral therapy skills and EMDR Therapy when working with clients toward their goals. I provide psychoeducation on the connections between thoughts, feelings, behaviors and bodily sensations. I often teach mindfulness and relaxation practices. I encourage use of coping skills and self-care behaviors to decrease symptoms and manage stressors. I also include elements of ego state interventions or parts work and trauma-informed care in my approach to help clients heal from past trauma.
